Entry requirements

No qualifications or experience required.


Conduct learning activities with children including games inside and outside of the classroom.


Candidates will need access to a computer with an internet connection, basic desktop applications such as Microsoft Office or OpenOffice, a pdf reader, headphones or speakers.


Candidates will need basic computer skills to write simple documents, watch lectures and other such tasks.


Candidates will need basic numeracy skills to count, add and subtract.


Have language, literacy and numeracy skills to read and comprehend learning materials and perform tasks related to an AQF level 4 qualification which may include recording routines, maintaining education notes, providing written feedback to parents, developing activity plans, interpreting workplace policy and procedure, reporting hazards, preparing resources.


Be aged 16 years or over.


Learners will need to obtain clearances as part of this course such as police checks and/or WWCC.


Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents, all visa types are eligible except student visa holders (note that not all visas are eligible for government funding however).

External - Supported and structured pathway for learners likely to be successful in an external mode.

Class based: Brisbane and Perth. 1 day per week for 10 weeks starting every school term. External mode with introductory workshops. 2019 enrolments now open for Term 1 and 2. Blended workshops, self-paced, webinars, work placement and optional tutorials.

12 months including orientation at the beginning and time at the end to finalise assessments. This course is expected to take approximately 1200 hours to complete. Students are initially enrolled for a 12 month period and can apply for extensions if required.




Short answer questions, case studies, projects, workplace scenarios, workplace logbook and experience record, assessor observations (site visits).




Students must log a minimum of 100 hours in an approved primary school, high school, special needs centre, pre-primary or kindergarten. Our trainers visit every student during their work placement to provide mentoring, support and guidance.
